#12 Vet in Newmarket, Suffolk
Independent equine hospital (founded in 1912) providing both first-opinion and referral work, with an RCVS accredited tier three specialist equine hospital status and an in-house clinical pathology laboratory. The service mix on the website points to a hospital set up for surgical and medical cases (including orthopaedics, internal medicine and soft-tissue surgery), alongside breeding, sales and performance work. Recent reviews include very positive outcomes in breeding management (a mare being flushed and treated with antibiotics over several days to get in foal) and helpful purchase/vetting advice, but also complaints about practice administration and follow-up—most notably long delays and missed call-backs for biopsy results, and problems around booking/communication for a 5‑stage vetting.

My horse went in for a biopsy 2 months ago. I was told it would take 3 weeks for results. Have rang them alot of times for the results. Always told someone would ring me back. Still waiting 5 weeks later

All of the reception staff were very professional and helpful. Mark offered us some excellent advice when we were looking to purchase a pony. I would not hesitate to use again.

Very disappointed with this vet practice. Came in contact with them for a 5 stage vetting. To start with the receptionists booked a appointment with my buyer without me even knowing which wasn’t convenient for me and my buyer rearranged her day to attend and then they told my buyer that I cancelled it when they didn’t check with me first! Then the vet came to the yard and he didn’t introduce himself to me which I found very rude! Then he told my buyer that my horse wasn’t up to date with her vaccination as he thought 7 was a 4…. Not good at all wouldn’t recommend.
